Spider-Man the movie tells the story of a young, nerdy teenage boy from the suburbs of New York, whose passions are science and photography: Peter Parker, Spiderman’s secret identity. After being bitten by a radioactive spider Peter starts turning into the Spider-Man. The movie captures the series of modifications that turn him from a boy to a man. As he gets acquainted with his new found powers he also finds out that danger lurks at every step.

The Spider-Man movie score is a unique series of melodies that follow the main character’s journey every step of the way. Composed by Danny Elfman, the score is able to add great value to every moment of the movie, from the most emotional to the most action-packed scenes. In order to create the score for Spider-Man Elfman used traditional orchestration along with ethnic percussion. The electronic elements fill the sound and grant it a special dimension, which transforms every scene into perfection.

James Franco plays Harry Osborn, the best friend and Kirsten Dunst plays the love of Peter Parker’s life, Mary Jane Watson. Willem Dafoe is the mad scientist who turns into Spiderman’s main nemesis and makes things impossible for Peter in his personal life, as well as putting his life in danger.

As Spiderman ensues viewers can expect action, danger and great special effects that mask a love story that can never be. Peter learns that ‘with great power comes great responsibility’ and he takes Spiderman as a permanent identity. Danny Elfman’s score from Spider-Man was created to add dramatic value to the scenes, by transforming feelings from panic, to sadness, to optimism. As a result Spiderman is a perfect combination of image and sound.
